Floor performances could represent your building status, because looking at the surface, people could see the history of the building and especially the wear and tear over the years.

Floor performances could represent your building status, because looking at the surface, people could see the history of the building and especially the wear and tear over the years.

In the past, the floor used to be treated with an epoxy system, which has resulted in major problems over time due to peeling off and blistering of the epoxy layer.

Recently, grinding concrete floors have become a design trend favored by novelty, different from the familiar marble tile and wooden floor. However, before applying this floor type, owners need to consider the following points to have a complete and satisfying project.

Firstly, with its smooth and polished surface, ground concrete has high aesthetics, but has physical limitations when it is slippery, easy to fall. Falling onto an abrasive concrete surface can cause serious injuries because of the hardness, consistency, and rigidity of the material.

Secondly, before starting the grinding process, the concrete needs to reach the strength of 28 days, which prolonging construction progress.

Lastly, when the concrete surface is cracked, it is difficult to repair. Cracks create conditions and space for mold growth.

Although there are several drawbacks of polished concrete, we could not deny that polished concrete brings a new design language. Grinding concrete is often used to design floors or walls for industrial-style architectures.

Especially, the more being cleaned, the more shiny the floor surface will be and the better the reflection. A natural material, but still brings a luxurious aesthetic effect.

For example:

The most impressive of this project is that 50.000 m2 floor with failed epoxy into a new polished concrete floor within just 10 weeks.

The interesting in this material using for this project is that Deco SHIELD contains colloidal silica, which could react with free_ calcium hydroxide-the byproduct of cement hydration reaction, which means that it makes the surface denser and ensure the strength of concrete for the grinding process.
