Self-build concrete block system: Innovation for green material

This kind of block is similar to the puzzle so that it simplifies the construction process and reduces the time for construction because workers do not need extensive training to implement the system.

I.             What is concrete block?

Concrete block is made from the mixture of cement, fine aggregates, sand, …. with low water content. The strength of the block gain from the pressure or the vibration, which impacts the block during the shaping process. After this step, these blocks will be cured until they reach the designed strength _usually after 28 days.

II.            The advantages of concrete block

  •        High performance in soundproof:

Thanks to the structure of concrete, which contains various microporous and hollows that allow concrete blocks to have sound dissipation capability.

When the sound waves are transmitted it has to follow the zigzag line, which means that the waves will be dispersed and divided. As a result, the volume is lower when transmitted through the concrete block.

  •      Long-lasting durability:

Concrete block has high performance in force-resistance as well as durability because concrete is cured in high-pressure steam saturated conditions, which accelerate concrete reach to the rounded-development in strength.

  •         Out-standing in insulation and environmentally friendly:

As regarding above, concrete block contains porous and hollows inside the structure so that the coefficient of thermal conductivity is lower than the normal brick.

Furthermore, due to the manufacturing process does not require fossil fuel for burning so that it does not release exhaust fume or greenhouse gas.

  •        Saving energy and resources:

Comparing to normal brick, which not only requires strictly about a lot of raw components such as clay, feldspar and kaolinite but also burning resources to bake the brick.

According to the information from the government reported on 27/12/2019 the amount of brick consumed in 2019 is 26 billion bricks, which means that the demand for resources and fuels for normal brick is enormous. Adapting to this manufacture, people have to face the loss of farmland and air pollution in the future.

All these problems will never the case of using concrete blocks.

III.          Self-build concrete block – small change brings big benefits.

Although concrete block has many advantages however it requires specialized mortar, which not be absorbed water. Besides, applying this concrete block need experienced workers and it hard to set up the MEP system because of its solid structure.

Therefore, an innovation in shaping of concrete block could compensate all it disadvantages _ the self-build concrete block: block ARMO.

Block ARMO, developed by Armed Omega, debuted in late 2015 in an official press release by the Mexican Council for Science and Technology.

IV.          How to install self-build concrete block.

The system consists of six pieces of self-assembly that are self-supporting. A metal rod is inserted every 80 centimeters, with no need for a special foundation, creating a structure where you can install pipes and wiring without any problems.
